Fred Michaels has been a professional Puppeteer for 50 years. Fred started performing at the age of 4, singing and dancing. With a BFA in Theatre focusing on children's Theatre. Fred has worked with 3 marionette companies before starting his own company, The Mad hatter Marionettes. 

With performances at The Smithsonian institution in DC, Wolftrap children's festival, three rivers Art Festival and and several others, Fred has been in high demand. 

His most exciting moment was being picked to work with Fred Rogers on Mister Rogers Neighborhood as the character of Prince Tuesday! 

" I really enjoyed working with him, he and I became friends and he taught me a lot about Children's Theatre".

Fred has extensive knowledge and experience in puppetry including design, construction, manipulation and production. It is a wonderfully creative outlet. 

I am also looking for future puppeteers who would like to carry on my performance work.

BEGINNER CLASS BREAKDOWN:

Absolutely no experience needed, this is not an art class and we are not making dolls. 

We will animate inanimate objects  using basic principles of styles & movement using everyday materials to craft and create . 

Each student will interact with their puppet at the end of class.

ADVANCED CLASS BREAKDOWN :

Working with more advanced materials progressing toward the final product. The final product will be a "trick" Marionette style juggler, with a mini performance from each student to show off their creation.
